Christmas is coming Christmas is here Bring out a bottle Sweep up the pine needles Turn on the lights then turn them off The frame of your house The running around Then it all goes away in a great culling I am not aware of how to feel these days Another year Christmas is here Kindle the fire and call your mom Greet the neighbors Smile often and shovel the snow Toast the winter Then it all goes away in a great culling I am not aware of how to feel these days Another year Christmas is here

about

A dour original Christmas tune, "Christmas Is Here (A Great Culling)" is the soundtrack for your solitary late-night drink under the Christmas tree. Crisp guitar lines and a stark minimalist arrangement serve to highlight the lyrical content — a series of "holiday to-do's" (greet the neighbors, shovel the snow, call your mom) that eventually imbue the title phrase with a weary, exhausted feeling (exemplified by the woozy, shoegazy-y guitar solo). Toast the winter and the impermanence of the season with this melancholy tune.
